Prandtl equation and Well-posedness in Sobolev Spaces
By
Dr. Radjesvarane Alexandre (Arts et Métiers Paris Tech - France)
We introduce a new approach to study the well-posedness theory of the Prandtl equation in Sobolev spaces by using direct energy method under a monotonicity condition on the tangential velocity field instead of using the Crocco transformation. In particular, we apply the Nash-Moser-Hormander iteration to obtain a well-posedness theory of classical solutions to the nonlinear Prandtl equation when the initial data is a small perturbation of a monotonic shear flow. This is a joint work with Chao-Jiang Xu (Rouen University, France and Wuhan University, PRC China), Yaguang Wand (SJTU, China) and Tong Yang (City University, Hong Kong).
Biography: Radjesvarane ALEXANDRE, Phd from Paris 6 University, is now Professor at Arts et Métiers Paris Tech, France and Chair Professor, in the Institute of Natural Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.
His research includes such topics as homogenization theory, kinetic equations, partial differential equations from fluid mechanics, and signal processing.
Part of his main works were focused on Boltzmann equation for long range interactions: theory of weak solutions together with Cédric Villani (2010 Fields Medal); while the classical theory of perturbative solutions for the Boltzmann equation has been settled recently in a series of works done in collaboration with Yoshinori Morimoto, Seiji Ukai, Chao-Jiang Xu and Tong Yang.
